Tamil Nadu's Santosh Kumar won the men's 400 meter hurdle race meet on the third day of the 57th National Open Athletics Championship on Wednesday.
Kumar took the best time of 50.16 s and won a yellow tag. He also broke the 50.26s record by Joseph Abraham in 2009. Army athlete Ramachandran second and Aftab Alam of Uttar Pradesh remained in third place.
In Men's High Jump Competition, Siddharth Yadav of Railways and V. Bharti of Army, recorded a distance of 2.23 meters. The two broke the record of 2.22 meters of Tejaswini Shankar last year. Though Yadav was the first, Bharti got second place.
J. Priet of Railways, in the Pol Vault, captured the gold medal with 5.00 meters. Ganpati (Army) in the 20 km walk, won a yellow tag. ONGC's Jona Mamuru won gold in 400 meters of women's obstacle. Karnataka's D Aishwarya got gold in the triple jump. Anu Rani of Railways stayed in the first place with a distance of 57.90 meters.
